DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the point of contact for clients who are applying for
benefits, submitting information needed for recertification of benefits, or have issues and concerns regarding their cases. This position
will interact with the applicant/client to obtain information and evaluate their situation in order to advise the client on what is necessary
to ensure their case is processed timely and accurately to receive Food and Nutrition, Medicaid benefits, Child Care, Work First benefits,
and energy Assistance.
This employee will learn and use programs Compass Pilot and Compass Appointments (Compass Co-Pilot, if issued a DSS iPad) as
required by position to do, but not limited to: request leave, schedule/receive appropriate appointments, set up virtual files,
scan/retrieve documents, receive/send tasks. Experience using Microsoft Office 2000 (Word, Excel, etc.) required.
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)Two (2) years or
more of related experience providing customer service in a setting with a high level of public contact and using a computer for
researching, searching, and entering data
Must possess a valid NC Driver's license
Preferences: Previous experience as an Income Maintenance, Economic Services, or Universal CaseworkerPrevious experience
interviewing clients or families Excellent computer skills sufficient to use NC FAST, NC's online case management system, as well as
various other search engines and software programs Able to utilize complex automated systems and have knowledge of policies and
procedures related to eligibility, determination and re-determination
