What are the responsibilities and job description for the Activity Assistant/Memory Care position at Weatherly Inn?
Weatherly Inn is looking for an Activity Assistant in our Memory Care community to serve our residents. Must have a valid WA State Driver's License with a clean driving record. Ideal candidates must be friendly, outgoing and compassionate with a heart for caring for others. Experience working with seniors is a plus.
JOB SKILLS (Abilities essential to the job.)
- Read, write, speak and understand English.
- Lift 50 pounds and carry 25 pounds.
- Push 250 pound residents in wheelchairs or cart of same weight.
- Sit, stand, walk, squat, and bend at the waist multiple times a shift.
- Perform repetitive arm/hand movement & reach above shoulder.
- Proficient at operating: extractor, vacuum, bus, copier, computer.
- Proficient at multitasking, organization, communication, leadership. Proficient at arts, crafts and/or music preferred
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: GED or High School required. Activity Specialty Education preferred.
- Experience: One year in same or job related field.
- Certificates: Food Handlers (within 14 days of hire), CPR 1stAid (within 30 days),
- Dementia & Mental Health Training (within 90 days), either CNA license within 120 days or Home Care Aide certification within 200 days.
- Licenses: Washington State Driver’s License and no moving violations for past 3 years.
GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Learn to know special needs of residents and report changes in behavior (physical or emotional) to nursing.
- Be familiar with and follow Employee Handbook and General Requirements.
- Report needed repairs or unsafe conditions to maintenance or supervisor.
- Report immediately any on the job injury to supervisor or charge nurse.
- Maintain a clean work environment.
SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Planning and implementing the activities program for the residents.
- Scheduling residents for specific activities.
- Maintain open communications with all departments to ensure smooth interaction between activities and other needs of the residents.
- Responsible for the entertainment of residents.
- Assist in the development of the annual budget and to meet the budget on an annual basis.
- Responsible for maintaining order and cleanliness of the activity spaces.
- Responsible for taking the residents for drives.
- Attend and participate in all staff meetings.
- Scheduling, training and development of all employees in a direct reporting relationship.
- Make sure the program of activities are in line with the needs of the residents.
- Inform the residents of the schedule of activities.
- Make sure that residents actively participate in the programs.
- Supervise the execution of the program of activities.
- Help with the scheduling of entertainers each month.
- Schedule ministers to conduct services on a regular basis.
- Maintain all equipment and supplies in the activity room.
- Assemble the residents for their regular on hour drive.
- Establish the department's need for volunteers.

Pay: From $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
