Position Summary

The role of the Safety Manager is to build and maintain a positive safety culture at WebstaurantStore. Responsibilities include training, recordkeeping, facility inspections, incident investigations, and project coordination, and more. This position maintains extensive knowledge of the various operations protocols and identifies areas for improved efficiencies while maintaining Company safety policies. The Safety Manager supervises all Safety employees.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Personally train employees on workplace safety policies and procedures
• Maintain, develop, and update safety training programs, policies, and procedures
• Ensure that all employee safety and training records are complete, organized, and available
• Ensure that all work is performed according to facility safety policies, regulatory guidelines, and best practices
• Complete regular inspections to ensure a hazard-free workplace and OSHA compliance (including other regulatory agencies, such as DOT, FDA, NFPA, etc.)
• Complete safety audits to ensure practices and procedures are relevant and up to date
• Conduct and review incident investigations relating to injuries, equipment, and near-misses
• Conduct Risk Assessments and Job Safety Analysis to identify problem areas and find solutions
• Provide guidance to management on matters relating to safety
• Lead and coordinate meetings and projects with warehouse safety committee
• Promote a positive safety culture

• Ensure the timely completion of all employee performance reviews and provide frequent and constructive feedback to all team members in accordance with the Great Employees Only philosophy
• Interact with employees regularly to promote a high level of engagement and ensure all safety regulations are followed
• Create development plans for employees to maintain engagement and create a leadership bench.
• Promptly complete all admin duties relating to employee management to the expected standard
  
  

Leadership

• Collaborate with the leadership team within the building to meet the needs of the DC and foster a team mentality
• Create development plans for employees to generate engagement and a leadership bench, with a focus on Team Leaders
• Maintain a high level of integrity and honesty, embodying the core values of the company and modeling them for our employees
• Serve as a leader not only for the assigned department, but for the entire distribution center, holding peers, managers and employes accountable to expectations
  
  

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

• Bachelors or graduate degree in Safety Management, Occupational Safety and Health, or equivalent degree
• 3-5 years of experience in safety management or related field
• Knowledge of safety policies and OSHA regulations

• OSHA 10, OSHA 30 General Industry training
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Work is performed while standing and/or walking, up to and including 10 hours/day
• Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing
• Requires the regular use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
• Requires regular bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching
• Requires the ability to regularly lift / carry 50-75lbs. and push / pull up to 150lbs.
  
  

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. Occasional activities may involve exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes and gases. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The passage of employees through the work area is average and normal.
