Wellvance provides State funded public mental health services to Iosco, Ogemaw, and Oscoda counties in northern Michigan. Services are provided to people with an Intellectual or Developmental Disability (I/DD), a Serious Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI), and/or those who may be Seriously Emotionally Disturbed (SED).

Candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule and travel throughout the Board's coverage area and, at times, around different areas of the state. Possession of a driver's license valid in the State of Michigan, vehicle insurance as required by Michigan Law, and a good driving record; be a U.S. Citizen or have possession of necessary papers allowing holder to work legally within the United States.

A Pre-Employment Background will be conducted in the following areas: Criminal (Both State and Federal Finger Printing), Driving, Educational and Employment record verifications/inquiries.

Education and/or Experience

  • MSW/MA/BSW/RN and licensable in the State of Michigan.
  • Individual with a human services degree performing in the role of a QMHP.
  • To Qualify for a Children’s Mental Health Professional; a Master’s Degree in a mental health related field from an accredited school with one year experience in the examination, evaluation and treatment of minors and their families. Candidates must meet both Child and Adult requirements.
  • Specialized training or one year experience in treating or working with a person who has mental illness.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Ability to use computers, computer software programs and standard office equipment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Must demonstrate attention to detail, time management, and organization skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to convey and receive information (in person, on the phone, or through written correspondence) with the ability to accurately document all form of contact in appropriate location.
  • Good critical thinking, analytical and judgment skills.
  • Attention to detail striving for thoroughness and accuracy when completing a task.
  • Must meet eligibility requirements to provide supervision in programs per Medicaid standards and agency board approved policy
  • Must have the ability to assist in the implementation of new developments and requirements as mandated by funding sources.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Maintain all required trainings and certifications.
  • Possess a valid US driver's license.
  • Vehicle Insurance as required by Michigan Law, and a good driving record.
  • Provide proof of U.S. Citizenship or possession of necessary papers allowing holder to work legally in the United States.

Emergency Services Clinicians provide evaluation to those experiencing a mental health crisis, crisis intervention, stabilization, disposition and referral services in consultation with the ED physician, for persons in need of emergency psychiatric care appearing in our community hospital emergency department. In addition, clinicians receive phone calls from those presenting with psychiatric crisis, and will provide aftercare follow up to individuals via phone calls and face to face consult.

Responsibilities consist of rapid response, telepractice and face-to-face assessment, diagnostic screening, safety planning and interventions responsive to client goals, needs and resources. Ability to work closely with ED health care team and referral sources is crucial to the provision of high quality accessible services.

The Dedicated ES team works up to 36 hours a week which is considered full time for this position. There are 5 wellness days attached to the position. The person must be qualified to bill the T1023 code and must have an MSW, MA Counseling, LBSW or be an RN
