Wesley Shelter Victim Services Case Manager

Wesley Shelter Inc. is the domestic and sexual violence and human trafficking response agency in Wilson County. Wesley Shelter has been serving the Wilson community through its many programs since 1983. Services include: 24-Hour Crisis Line, Domestic and Sexual Violence Response, The Edward Y.C. Thorne Safe House, Legal Services, Therapy, Children's Programs, Outreach Services, Community Education, Prevention Services, The Clothes Line and more.

The Victim Services Case Manager provides trauma-informed, survivor-centered advocacy and case management to individuals impacted by domestic and sexual violence, and human trafficking. This role is responsible for assessing client needs, coordinating services, and providing emotional support to survivors as they navigate their healing journey. The Victim Services Case Manager will work closely with community partners, legal resources, and social service agencies to ensure survivors receive comprehensive support.

Key Responsibilities:

Direct Client Services

  • Provide trauma-informed case management, including needs assessments, goal setting, safety planning, and resource navigation.
  • Offer emotional support, crisis intervention, and advocacy to survivors of domestic and sexual violence, and human trafficking.
  • Assist survivors in securing emergency shelter, transitional housing, or permanent housing solutions.
  • Accompany survivors to court hearings, medical exams, law enforcement interviews, and other critical appointments as needed.
  • Educate clients on their rights, available legal protections, and resources, including restraining orders, victim compensation, and public assistance programs.
  • Develop and facilitate support groups, educational workshops, and empowerment programs.

Advocacy & Community Engagement

  • Establish and maintain relationships with law enforcement, legal services, healthcare providers, and social service agencies to enhance service coordination.
  • Advocate for survivor needs within community systems, ensuring access to culturally competent and equitable resources.
  • Conduct outreach and educational presentations to increase awareness of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking issues.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with agency policies and grant requirements.
  • Complete intake forms, service plans, case notes, and follow-up documentation in a timely manner.
  • Collect and report data on client services and program outcomes for grant reporting and evaluation purposes.
  • Adhere to all ethical, legal, and professional standards regarding victim services and confidentiality.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field (Master’s preferred) OR equivalent experience in victim services, case management, or advocacy.
  • At least 2 years of experience working with victims/survivors of domestic and sexual violence, or human trafficking.
  • Strong knowledge of trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and survivor-centered advocacy.
  • Experience navigating social services, legal protections, housing programs, and victim compensation services.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a sometimes fast-paced, emotionally sensitive environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Bilingual preferred but not required.

Work Environment & Schedule

This position is 30 hours a week with minimal flexibility in hours.

The hourly rate is between $17 and $20 an hour.

Some travel required for court accompaniment, client support, and community outreach.
