Overview:
West Group Law PLLC (WGL) is seeking an associate with 3-5 years’ experience to join our team and work on both litigation and transactional matters. We represent state and local governments and public entities in connection with public procurement, contracting, administration and litigation involving public infrastructure assets such as water and wastewater, solid waste, public buildings, transportation, and energy.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication, research, analysis and writing skills, and be a self-starter who is able to work independently and approach problem-solving with creativity.
This position may be remote or may be located in our Providence, RI office or our White Plains, NY office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough and precise legal research using platforms such as Westlaw and LexisNexis.
- Draft, review, and refine legal memoranda, briefs, regulations and ordinances, and other documents related to municipal infrastructure projects and issues.
- Analyze statutes, regulations, case law, and other legal sources to support litigation, transactional, or advisory matters.
- Monitor and analyze developments in municipal, state, and federal laws impacting infrastructure projects.
- Provide assistance with respect to drafting marketing materials and substantive articles with respect to municipal infrastructure matters.
Qualifications:
- Juris doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in good standing in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and/or New York.
- 3-5 years of legal experience.
- Excellent research skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to incorporate feedback and conform work product to the firm’s style.
- Exceptional legal writing skills with the ability to produce clear, concise, and persuasive content.
- Ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality output.
