Food Service Worker TEMP

Lakin Hospital is a state-operated, long-term care facility located in West Columbia, WV.

*This position is temporary but has the potential to become full time*

General Description

Assists in the preparation and serving of food to residents and employees.

Prepares various food items according to menus and as may be directed by supervisor or cook in charge.

• Sets up trays for residents for specific diets as ordered by a physician.
• Pour drinks and set up a serving line.
• Prepares trays according to diet and portion control.
• Serves employees meals at the serving line.
• Prepares between-meal snacks and evening snacks.
• Use various dietary equipment to prepare and serve food.
• May be required to perform cook duties for no more than one shift (8hours) per week, if necessary.
• Records diet orders for therapeutic diets exactly as ordered by a physician on tray cards.
• Cleans work area(s) and equipment, washes pots and pans.
• Scrapes food from dirty trays before loading into dish machine.
• Operates dishwashing machine to ensure thorough cleaning of dishware and silverware.
• Performs dietary housekeeping duties when directed to maintain a clean department in all areas.
• Other related duties as required.

Mandatory overtime is an essential function of this position.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or the equivalent.

Special Requirement: Applicant must furnish a food handler's certification within seven days after appointment.
