Job Description

Job Title: Dietary Aide (Server)

Division: Dietary

Reports To: Dietary Manager

Summary: Responsible for efficient, courteous service in a clean, pleasant dining environment.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform defined work routines, using various dietary utensils, supplies and equipment as assigned by the Dietary Manager.*
  • Provide assistance to the cook in the preparation and service of meals.*
  • Assist in arranging trays, plating food and serving meals.*
  • Meet scheduled meal and snack times.*
  • Set up the dining room.*
  • Wash and store dishes.*
  • Follow cleaning schedules and perform cleaning duties as scheduled.*
  • Follow defined safety codes while performing duties.*
  • Follow defined infection control procedures.*
  • Understand facility’s fire and disaster plans.*
  • Follow established procedures during drills and actual emergencies.*
  • Be knowledgeable of federal, state, and facility’s rules, regulations, policies and procedures.*
  • Attend inservice educational programs.
  • Perform any other department duties as assigned by the Dietary Manager.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Language Ability:

Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Math Ability:

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED is preferred.
  • Experience working with or caring for seniors is preferred.

Specialized Training:

  • Facility training programs
