POSITION DESCRIPTION
The WPC Assistant to the Director of Kids Ministry works collaboratively with the Kids Ministry Director to assist in the development and needs of the Kids Ministry program. The Assistant will provide administrative and program support that nurtures and encourages children, birth through 5th grade, and their families to grow in their Christian faith. Under the direction of the Kids Ministry Director, the Assistant will perform a variety of organizational and administrative tasks that support WPC programming and events. The Assistant will report to the Kids Ministry Director.
RESPONSIBILLITIES
Program Logistics & Lesson Development
· Provide support for the day-to-day operations of the Kids Ministry program.
· Assist the Kid’s Ministry Director in the planning and preparation of weekly lessons that are aligned with the WPC Kids Ministry curriculum.
· Assist in fall recruitment and kick-off events.
· Assist in the planning and implementation of weekly activities, special events, mission trips, and camps ensuring that planned activities are geared to each child in regard for their unique needs, talents, and age.
· Create and implement games and activities for children’s programs and events that align with the weekly curriculum.
· Assist in purchasing, acquiring, and gathering of all supplies needed for weekly activities and events.
· Setup, tear down, gather, and place supplies and materials as directed.
· Communicate with staff and volunteers on a weekly basis regarding upcoming lessons and classroom needs.
· Build relationships with WPC Kids Ministry children, families, and volunteers.
Scheduling
· Assist in the scheduling of the Kids Ministry program staff and volunteers.
· Follow up as needed to confirm coverage, finding substitutes for staff and volunteers as needed.
Safety and Security
· Provide for the safety of WPC Kids Ministry children by warmly greeting children and families on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings, checking them in and out.
· Coordinate and implement routine cleaning and organization of Kids Ministry classrooms.
· Respond effectively to the physical and emotional needs of children of varying ages.
Administrative & Reporting
· Assist the Kids Ministry Director with the annual Kids Ministry budget by ensuring that expenditures are made wisely and within budget guidelines.
· Assist in monitoring weekly attendance tracking, ensuring all participants have a current liability waiver on file, and new families have completed a Westminster Welcome card.
· Attend all weekly, monthly, and event planning meetings.
· Attend WPC all-staff meetings or other committee and planning meetings as directed.
· All other items as deemed necessary by the Kids Ministry Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
· A personal relationship with Christ and a commitment to grow in that relationship.
· Ability to lead and engage children and their families toward Christ.
· Ability to pass required a state and national background check.
· Completion of the Ministry Safe Child Abuse Training within one week of hire.

OTHER
· Must be able to work Sunday morning and Wednesday evening and occasional other evenings or Saturdays.
· Must be able to attend and participate in the leadership of summer camp activities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job the employee may be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Additionally, the employee will be required to bend, twist, reach, push, and pull, as related to working in an environment with children. Must be able to lift up to thirty-five pounds.
