What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead, Polysom Tech, Sleep Clinic position at WhidbeyHealth?
LEAD ASSIGNMENT includes the following, other duties may be assigned:
- Performs all essential duties of primary position/functional area of focus.
- Implements practices that ensure clinical standards are met.
- Provides support and guidance to employees within the same functional area.
- Provides input for the performance assessment of other employees within the same job classification.
- Conducts research to identify areas for improvement.
- Evaluates clinical outcomes to identify areas for improvement, if applicable to position.
- Keeps up to date with the latest developments in the field.
- Assists with ordering supplies for the department.
- Ensures that the department has timely access to supplies and logistical support.
- May assist with creating and maintaining the departmental schedule.
- Ensures staff compliance with clinical and operational protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Assists with the orientation and training of new staff.
- Assists with the direction and guidance for departmental workflow.
- Assists with daily distribution of the workload.
Department Specific:
Patient Education/Clinic tasks:
- Assist providers in clinic to provide patient education regarding mask fitting/machine checks and general PAP therapy.
- Follow up with patients as needed to ensure adherence to PAP therapy.
- Assist with PAP downloads as needed and communicate any areas of concern to provider.
- Collaborate with mask vendors (and build relationships) to ensure we have the support we need for the lab and clinic.
- Assist Sleep Clinic as needed working under scope of practice.
Lab tasks:
- Oversees night techs and addresses operational concerns (only technical portion of their job, the actual performance of studies) under the guidance/approval of supervisor.
- Checks all study orders – communicates issues with provider as needed.
- Assist supervisor in technical staffing (because of call-ins, etc.) as needed.
- Oversees PSG acquisition and scoring processes, including MSLT/MWT execution. Reviews studies for correct demographics and communicates with sleep reader the need for STAT interpretations.
- Maintain PSG supply inventory and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Point person for issues at start of night shift for technicians if issues arise.
- Program and dispense HSAT devices as scheduled. Score studies and transmit data to sleep reader. Maintain HST log per our policy and procedure.
- Manage inventory, including ordering and cleaning processes.
Accreditation & Quality Management:
- Assist in keeping quarterly QA records for AASM accreditation.
- Maintain records for equipment checks/routine inspections as per our policy and procedure.
- Assist with updating policies and procedures as needed to comply with AASM accreditation.
Lead Pay: Additional $2.00 per hour
