Title: Radiology Transporter-Safety Sensitive
Department: Radiology
Reporting Relationships: The Radiology Transporter is under the direct supervision of the Clinical Lead.
Job Summary: The Radiology Transporter is responsible for daily operations of transporting patients to and from the Radiology department. The Radiology Transporter will work effectively with other staff members, patients and families of all ages. The Radiology Transporter will be required to perform clerical duties and some environmental service duties when called upon.
- Responsible for transport of all patients in the Radiology department.
- Must be able to prioritize work load and handle stressful situations in a professional manner. Organized work load during high volume to expedite patient transport and communicates to other technologists all pending exams and pertinent information.
- Will communicate with each modality that is involved with a patient to limit the number of trips required to each department.
- Promotes positive relationships at the department level, discusses concerns with the supervisor and presents the department in a positive manner to other employees and staff.
- Willingly assist other staff members in any area of radiology when needed. Check with co-workers during downtime for need of assistance.
- Follows attendance and tardy policies.
- Follows WRMC dress code and appearance policy.
- Participates in required hospital and department in-services and meetings.
- Follows safety and infection control policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervision.
Qualifications:
Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Must have BLS upon hire or 30 days post hire date.- Training and Experience: Experience in a health care setting is desirable.
- Job Knowledge: Must be able to communicate orally with patients of all ages.
- Must be able to report to work fit for duty and free of any adverse effects of illegal drugs, medical marijuana, prescription medication, and/or alcohol.
- Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with other individuals.
- Maintain current BLS status.
Physical Demands: Job responsibilities require a considerable amount of physical work. The individual will be required to assist with lifting and moving patients, pushing of carts, wheelchairs, and other equipment; and lifting or pushing of up to 300 pounds. Workday requires frequent walking, stooping, bending, and moderate degrees of stooping and repetitive hand and wrist movement. Work requires dexterity, hand/eye coordination, and physical ability to push and operate medical equipment. The individual must also be able to maneuver throughout the halls, stairways, and patient rooms in response to hospital emergencies
