Position Summary
Incumbent performs classification & compensation reviews for existing, new, and vacant
positions; provides input on compensation for new and existing employees; and participates in the completion of annual salary surveys.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or similar field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Considerable experience evaluating and classifying positions to determine appropriate classification and compensation levels.
- Significant experience using and participating in salary surveys.
- Working knowledge of HR principles and practices including applicable federal/state laws/regulations governing compensation, (particularly FLSA, OFCCP, and ACA)
- Knowledge of effective classification and compensation systems; and ability to appropriately use and maintain them.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills with the ability to foster a collaborative HR environment.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures; and to exercise sound judgment and make reasonable, logical and defensible decisions.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills with the ability to write comprehensive analytical reports, speak before diverse audiences, and facilitate training.
- Proficiency with a variety of software applications to include MS Office, HRIS systems, ATS systems, with the ability to learning new applications efficiently and effectively.
- Excellent organization and planning skills with the ability to effectively, efficiently, and appropriately manage multiple relationships and priorities concurrently.
Preferred Qualifications
- HR Certification (CCP, PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP and/or IPMA-HR).
- Experience with market/merit based compensation systems is strongly preferred.
- Experience working in a higher education environment.
- Experience with the Commonwealth of Virginia classification system or similar state or federal system.

Up to $70,000, commensurate with experience
