Basic Function:

The Assistant Director of International Affairs has the following duties: International student recruitment, recruitment for Wilmington College Global Overseas, and management of Study Away programing. This position will work to make sure all Wilmington College students participate in Study Away programing, will recruit International students for main campus/Global Overseas. This position will act as a point of contact for international students and their families both on campus and abroad.

This position will have oversight of budgets for WC Global Overseas and Study Away, including existing funds such as the Isaac Harvey Fund, and Helping Hands.

The Assistant Director of International Affairs will coordinate with Admissions staff to enroll international students and assist in recruitment. They will work with One Stop/Student Accounts to efficiently use funds for Study Away and WC Global. This position will coordinate with the VP of External Relations on developing WC Global Overseas. They will work with the Office of Academic Affairs to ensure that Study Away experiences are aligned with educational goals and for-credit Study Away courses are appropriately assessed. Finally, this position will utilize Faculty and Staff expertise to provide high-quality educational experiences for students who participate in Study Away and Wilmington College Global.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Admissions:

Visit with prospective international students and their families to provide a welcoming and thorough overview of the opportunities available at Wilmington College.

Provide correspondence to prospective students and donors through all channels of communication including phone, text, email, and parent outreach.

Develop innovative recruitment strategies and execute those strategies in a collaborative and team building environment.

Visit, develop and maintain strong working relationships with international educators and guidance professionals.

Act as the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) Coordinator.

Coordinate efforts with Admissions staff in the matriculation and orientation process to coordinate all necessary service areas in the international student pre-enrollment lifecycle.

Coordinate with VP of External Relations to develop WC Global Overseas and fulfill administrative duties for WC Global and act as a point of contact for WC Global students and their families, as well for main campus international students.

Actively participate in and represent WC Global programs in on-campus and community-based recruitment opportunities (i.e., fairs, special events, etc.).

Represent College at various college fairs and events.

Study Away/Travel:

Fulfill administrative duties for Wilmington College Study Away programing and act as a point of contact for students, faculty, and staff.

Create a webpage for posting of and applying to attend Study Away trips in order to streamline and formalize student travel and faculty/staff participation.

Create marketing for Study Away and publicize financing options for Study Away.

Work with faculty and staff to train them on policies and procedures for hosting Study Away trips.

Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to provide more Study Away opportunities.

Work across campus to facilitate overseas travel, including but not limited to Study Away, Philanthropy, etc.

Performance Standards:

Meets enrollment objectives and goals in a timely and effective manner as outlined in the office policies and procedure documents and strives to fulfill unit objectives and the college's strategic agenda.

Facilitates Wilmington College's Study Away programming and increases student and faculty participation in Study Away.

Attend and actively participate in all meetings assigned as part of this role.

Serves as an effective team member and coordinates effectively with other college departments/employees.

Appearance is professional and meets office policy standards.

Conduct is professional and meets office policy standards.

Knows and observes college and departmental policies, guidelines, and procedures.

A demonstrable commitment to extensive domestic and international travel in furtherance of this role.

Qualifications:

Related Bachelor's degree, master's preferred, plus a minimum of five years of responsible related experience, with experience in non-profit preferred.

Evidence of excellent communication and presentation skills, with ability to communicate effectively across cultures with a diverse population.

Demonstrated organizational ability, including effective time-management skills and ability to prioritize in a multi-task work environment.

Good computer skills with background using Microsoft Office, web applications and database experience would be helpful.

Familiarity with private higher education admission and/or financial aid is preferred.

Ability to work evenings and weekends as schedule and workload dictates.

Evidence of excellent writing skills and requisite background in fund solicitation.
