Wilson College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biology to serve as a specialist in Organismal Biology. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses on vertebrate and invertebrate biology, including their structure, function, ecology, and evolution, at the organismal level. Additional responsibilities include teaching introductory biology and non-major courses, both in lectures and labs.
We are seeking candidates who demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence and fostering an inclusive learning environment that supports the success of students from diverse backgrounds and identities. Candidates should have experience or interest in inclusive teaching practices that engage all students and promote equity in education.
Responsibilities include:
- Teaching organismal biology and related courses
- Contributing to introductory and non-major biology courses in both lectures and labs
- Advising and mentoring undergraduate students
- Engaging in departmental and institutional service, including curriculum development
Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. in Biology or a closely related field (to be completed before the start date)
- A demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and student engagement
- Ability to develop inclusive and equitable teaching practices that support students from diverse backgrounds
Preferred qualifications:
- Two years of college-level teaching experience
- Experience or interest in experiential or applied pedagogies
- Evidence of potential to contribute to the evolving needs of students in the biological sciences
- A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching and mentoring
