Wilson College seeks a visionary leader to serve as the founding Program Director for our groundbreaking Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology program. Grounded in our mission to empower students through transformational education, this role offers a rare opportunity to build and launch an innovative hybrid program that will reshape the landscape of speech-language pathology education.

About the Position:  Providing accessible, student-centered education that prepares future leaders to serve their communities will be central to this program's development. Reporting to the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs and working in concert with the Dean of Graduate and Professional Studies and our partners at Evidence in Motion (EIM), the Program Director will spearhead all aspects of program development and execution, including:

  • Faculty Leadership: Recruit, mentor, and develop a distinguished faculty and staff team committed to Wilson's student-centered approach; Create a collaborative academic culture that emphasizes mentorship and personal growth.
  • Student Engagement: Foster a dynamic learning environment that promotes clinical excellence, ethical practice, and drives strong student outcomes; Establish comprehensive student support systems aligned with Wilson's tradition of personal attention.
  • Curriculum Development: Design and implement a cutting-edge, evidence-based hybrid curriculum that fosters interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Accreditation and Compliance: Lead the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) accreditation process to ensure program excellent, growth, and industry standards.
  • Strategic Partnerships & Community Engagement: Forge interdisciplinary collaborations that reflect our integrated approach to learning; Develop clinical placement partnerships that serve diverse communities; Build relationships with industry partners; Engage with professional associations to advance our educational mission.

This is a 12-month appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or above, non-tenure track. While the position is remote, the Director will be required to travel to Wilson College on occasion, and to Philadelphia for the low-residency lab experiences. The Program Director will teach courses as assigned and/or agreed upon with institutional leadership. 

Qualifications:

  1. Earned terminal academic doctorate (Ph.D., Ed.D.) in a discipline appropriate for teaching responsibilities from a regionally accredited institution and current certification as a CCC-SLP.
  2. Eligible for senior faculty rank (Associate Professor or higher) or credit towards rank (typically awarded in year 6), with experience consistent with the Wilson College system for designated faculty rank.
  3. A minimum of four years of full-time experience as a core faculty member in a CAA accredited MS-SLP program.
  4. Applicable experience in leadership (SLP program leadership experience and/or demonstrated successful leadership experience with the CAA accreditation process are preferred).
  5. Experience with administration and teaching of hybrid or online programs.
  6. Understanding of higher education and contemporary clinical practice appropriate for leadership in speech-language pathology education.
  7. Knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting clinical education, students, and the profession of Speech-Language Pathology.
  8. Licensed, or eligible for licensure, as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Pennsylvania.
  9. Active in professional activities at local, state, and/or national levels.
  10. Candidate can live anywhere in the United States but must be able to travel to Philadelphia, PA for on-campus residency experiences.
