Job Summary

Essential Functions
- Investigate complex alerts regarding illegal transactions provided by third-party software and internal employees to aid in the detection and prevention of illicit financial crimes including, but not limited to, money laundering and financial terrorism.
- Responsible for compiling investigation data and dispositioning investigations.
- Acting as a subject matter expert and reference for other departments regarding questions involving investigations, case management, Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), new account/relationships laws and best practices.
- Collaborating with internal Wings departments to gather documentation necessary for case/investigation/alert disposition.
- Compiling and preparing complex Suspicious Activity Reports and narratives, including varying crime typologies. Must be familiar with FinCEN SAR typologies, including forms, documentation, and narrative notation.
- Monitor high-risk individuals/entities, utilizing BSA/AML software and risk-based controls to identify suspicious behavior and disposition as appropriate.
- Recommend relationship retention or termination and track account closures as required.
- Ongoing monitoring of BSA/AML software to ensure optimal alert quality, working with a team to improve and/or maintain alert quality.
- Participating in continuous ongoing subject matter training and achieving and holding an advanced BSA/AML and/or Fraud certification.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- College degree preferred.
- A minimum of 3-5 years experience working in a financial intuition in BSA/AML, CFT or Fraud related fields required.
- 3 years of high risk BSA/ALM experience Customer Due diligence (CDD)/Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) required.
- BSA/AML or Fraud advanced certification (CAMS or CFE preferred) or must be attainted within 6 months of employment.
- Proven knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter-Financial Terrorism (CFT) compliance.
- BSA/AML/FRAML system experience required.
- Experience investigating and filing complex Suspicious Activity Report and narrative preparation.
- Experience with case/investigation pipeline management.
- Experience with high-risk monitoring.
- Must be familiar with Federal and State Laws and regulations applicable to credit unions/financial institutions.
- Strong decision-making, analytical, and investigative abilities with attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to execute risk-based decision making.
- Critical thinking skills to research, collect, and analyze complex or diverse information.
- Ability to proactively identify and assess potential concerns and risks and resolve issues.
- Demonstrated project management, organizational skills and ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel.
- Effective, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to instruct others; train personnel; write reports, correspondence, and procedures; and speak clearly to customers and employees.
