What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr Commercial Lender position at Wings Credit Union?
PRIMARY PURPOSE: Provide leadership to other commercial lenders for growth and structure. Develop and manage commercial and commercial real estate loans which meet established lending requirements to provide maximum return with a minimum of risk. Develop business and community relationships to foster the growth of Wings Financials’ business member base.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide guidance to other Commercial Lenders in structuring loans and assist in navigating through the credit and loan operation processes;
- Develop and maintain loan referral relationships via centers of influence to provide consistent sources of new loan production opportunities for the department.
- Prospect and grow commercial deposit and Treasury Management services from new prospects and existing members to assist in providing funding for new loan production and fee generation.
- Consistently applies superior decision-making techniques pertaining to inquiries, approvals and requests as they apply to existing policies, procedures, and economic environment;
- Originate and structure larger, complex, commercial real estate and commercial loan relationships between $1 million and $35 million by contacting prospects and members to identify commercial lending needs;
- Manage loan portfolio of $300 million and greater;
- Insure that all loans are closed according to approved terms and conditions following prudent documentation systems to maintain priority and collectability;
- Manage Commercial Loan portfolio of $300 million and greater to identify credit risk rating changes and according to established policies and procedures;
- Collect and analyze member financial information with assistance of credit analyst in evaluating ongoing debt service capacity of the member for annual reviews of outstanding loans and new loan requests;
- Meet with members periodically to discuss possible changes in business management, financial trends or industry changes;
- Coordinate site visits with prospects or members at property or business location to assess ongoing business / property cash flow generation capability;
- Prepare and present new commercial loan requests and annual reviews to Chief Lending Officer and Business Loan Review Committee (BLRC) for approval;
- Assist in collection of information for annual review preparation to support prudent loan portfolio management and ensuring compliance with NCUA guidelines.
- Other duties as assigned by manager related to the Commercial Services Department.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain full knowledge of all available credit union products and services.
- Cross-sell and make referrals to other credit union departments including: personal deposits, consumer loans, home mortgages and investment services.
- Continuing education and networking throughout the year to gather knowledge of changing industry trends;
- Participate in community activities and civic organizations to increase Wings Financials’ community involvement visibility.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- College degree preferred or equivalent work experience as demonstrated by increased levels of accountability, knowledge required;
- Minimum of 7-10 years of commercial and commercial real estate lending experience required;
- Desire, ability and experience in working with people in a professional setting as demonstrated by a positive, enthusiastic attitude, exceptional interpersonal skills, professional business appearance and previous work experience;
- Bondable
- Experienced and proficient in Microsoft Office products, including: Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
