Job Title: Terminal Logistics Manager

Location: Port Arthur Terminal Facility

Job Summary:
Woodville Pellets is seeking an experienced Terminal Logistics Manager to oversee all logistics operations at our Port Arthur Terminal Facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing ground and sea logistics, leading a team in a dynamic environment, and ensuring smooth operations from incoming freight to maritime vessel loading. This role is pivotal to ensuring customer deadlines are met, costs are minimized, and compliance with safety regulations is maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

Ground Logistics

  • Manage all freight and logistics operations for the Woodville Pellets Port Arthur Terminal Facility.
  • Oversee a fleet of 5 trucks, 12 trailers, and 7 drivers to minimize overall costs and ensure compliance with all regulations.
  • Contract and manage third-party logistics providers, handling approximately 20 loads per day.
  • Schedule scale house personnel and drivers, reacting swiftly to changes driven by production at the mill.
  • Provide input on equipment configuration and new equipment selections.
  • Liaise among different departments to ensure logistics operations support overall customer requirements.
  • Work with managers to implement company policies and achieve strategic goals.
  • Ensure that health and safety guidelines are followed.
  • Supervise team members, identify training needs, ensure a well-trained workforce, and conduct employee performance reviews.

Sea Freight

  • Take overall responsibility for the Port Arthur storage and loading facility, including the management of 5 silos that load approximately 40,000 tons per month onto seagoing vessels.
  • Manage all aspects of maritime vessel loading—including scheduling, quality control, safety, and progress reporting.
  • Act as the company representative with the Port of Port Arthur and liaise as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe terminal, free from hazards.
  • Operate all equipment at the Terminal, including bobcats, forklifts, and hoisting cranes.
  • Comply with all company safety rules, including lockout/tagout procedures and confined space permits.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

Leadership

  • Manage a team of 8 employees, including mechanics and an electrician, in a 24-hour loading/unloading operation.
  • Ensure all safety protocols are followed to prevent injury or fire in silos, loading areas, and during vessel loadouts.
  • Maintain the terminal in a consistently clean and safe condition.
  • Conduct daily interactions with the team at the Woodville Mill via virtual meetings to ensure smooth communication.

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in logistics or terminal management, preferably in a port or similar environment.
  • Strong knowledge of ground and maritime freight logistics.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse teams and departments.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate terminal equipment and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
