Position Summary
Functions as Workforce Solutions Specialist by developing a variety of workforce development customized, non-credit courses incorporating with existing programs when possible; scheduling classes to implement courses; Operating in the field over College service area to set up and manage training at campus locations and/or remote sites; maintaining records on classes and students' achievements; reporting status and completions to the Director of Workforce Solutions; interfacing with and serving on college and statewide committees related to Workforce Solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate Workforce Solutions activities with the Director.
  2. Work with Business and Industry to create customized training programs that meet local demand.
  3. Work with instructors, Director, and Dean to create and approve non-credit classes (course descriptions, dates, hours, course materials, costs, and locations).
  4. Provide support to BSCC generated non-credit training, as well as ACCS generated non-credit training, provided through the College.
  5. Maintain records while working at training sites; submitting documentation regularly; planning and problem solving.
  6. Develop a variety of Workforce Solutions customized, non-credit courses, incorporating with existing programs when possible.
  7. Possess knowledge of WIOA and other State and Federal policies related to Workforce Solutions.
  8. Work with Adult Basic Education and ACE coordinators to develop training for clients.
  9. Schedule courses as needed for Workforce Solutions.
  10. Employ instructors as necessary to conduct Workforce Solutions training courses.
  11. Assist instructors in developing Workforce Solutions training courses.
  12. Perform other essential tasks for the program's success as determined by the administration.
  13. Develop and maintain appropriate records and files related to Workforce Solutions.
  14. Adhere to prescribed procedures in all financial operations.
  15. Participate in the planning and budgeting processes.
  16. Dispense necessary reports in a timely manner.
  17. Recruit, supervise, and evaluate faculty and staff.
  18. Coordinate preparation of scheduled classes and training.
  19. Coordinate the acquisition of supplies, equipment, books, and learning resources
  20. Perform liaison functions as appropriate between the College and the external community.
  21. Assist in enforcing all college policies.
  22. Assist in the strategic planning and institutional effectiveness functions of the College regarding Workforce Solutions.
  23. Attend all campus, college, and statewide meetings as required.
  24. Continue professional development through professional organizations, seminars, etc., to maintain and improve skills.
  25. Assume all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree required and at least five years of experience in a Career/Technical field OR direct experience in the field of Business and Industry Training.

Sick Leave
All regular full-time non-instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is the equivalent of 8 hours of sick leave per month. Unused sick leave is rolled over to the following year. Upon retirement, employees are allowed to convert unused sick time into service time for the purpose of retirement. Retirement
The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions. Responsibility for the management and administration of the TRS is vested in its Board of Control. The Boards of Control elect the Secretary-Treasurer who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the RSA and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the RSA. Tuition Assistance
This tuition waiver program is designed for all full-time instructional and non-instructional employees of The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education and their dependents as defined under by policy. The program will be coordinated by each institution for employees within The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education. An application form for the tuition assistance program is available in the Human Resources office and should be completed prior to registration for classes.
Employees/Dependents at two-year colleges:
  • 1/3 waived after 1st year
  • 2/3 waived after 2nd year
