The Senior System Administrator will be a key member of WSI’s IT Operations team, responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining WSI’s endpoint environment. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring that our devices - laptops, desktops, mobile devices, and related peripherals - are efficiently managed, secure, and optimized for performance. The ideal candidate demonstrates innovation, strategic thinking, and technical expertise, capable of driving strategic improvements in our endpoint management processes, tools, and security posture.
DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Endpoint Management & Deployment: Design, implement, and maintain scalable endpoint management solutions for Windows, and mobile operating systems. Utilize advanced endpoint management platforms (e.g., Microsoft Intune, MECM, SOTI PDQ, etc.) for imaging, provisioning, patching, and configuration management.
- Technical Strategy: Take ownership of endpoint management initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Identify areas for improvement and champion solutions that enhance security, efficiency, and usability. Guide technical standards and collaborate with peers to implement strategic improvements.
- Security & Compliance: Enforce security policies, configuration baselines, and compliance standards across all endpoints using various tools like InTune, Group Policy, PatchMyPC, M365 Conditional Access, etc. Collaborate with the Information Security team to implement endpoint security measures, including encryption, EDR solutions, and vulnerability remediation strategies.
- Performance & Optimization: Monitor endpoint performance, troubleshoot issues, and drive continuous improvements in reliability and usability. Conduct root-cause analyses on complex technical issues and implement long-term fixes.
- Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain scripts (e.g., PowerShell) to automate routine tasks and improve operational efficiency. Explore emerging technologies and tools to streamline endpoint provisioning, software deployments, and updates.
- Documentation & Technical Knowledge Sharing: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for endpoint configurations, processes, and procedures. Mentor peers and share technical best practices across the IT organization. Experience with widely used ITSM platforms like FreshService, ServiceNow, etc. to efficiently manage and organize incoming tasks and workflows.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other IT teams, partners, and stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions that support WSI’s business objectives. Participate in project planning, providing technical guidance and recommendations for endpoint-related initiatives.
- Remote Access & Virtualization: Build, improve, and maintain virtualization platforms (e.g., Citrix, Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop, VMware ESXi, etc.). Ensure associates can access systems remotely and securely with a focus on device-agnostic solutions (e.g., VPN, Office 365, etc.).
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Advanced knowledge of endpoint management tools (e.g., Intune, MECM) and software deployment methodologies.
- Strong scripting skills in one or more languages (e.g., PowerShell).
- Solid understanding of Windows and mobile device platforms, including security best practices and compliance standards.
- Proficient in Active Directory, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, MDM/MAM solutions, and modern authentication methods.
- Familiarity with foundational networking concepts, including DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP, as they relate to endpoint management and troubleshooting.
- Excellent communication skills to articulate technical concepts clearly and concisely.
- Adaptability to dynamic environments with a proven track record of managing shifting priorities and delivering successful projects.
- Proven ability to mentor peers and foster knowledge-sharing within the team.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- Proven experience in IT operations management or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, systems, and support processes.
