What are the responsibilities and job description for the Property Claims Agent l position at WSSC Water?
The Property Claims Agent I is responsible for investigating, evaluating, and resolving minor claims involving damages to real property and vehicles. Responsibilities include inspecting damage, interacting with WSSC Water staff and contractors, gathering relevant documentation, drafting authority memoranda, and negotiating settlements. Also handles less complex billed work claims that involve investigating damage to WSSC Water property caused by third parties.
Essential Functions
- Maintains claims files with pertinent documentation
- Assembles reports and other material related to property damage claims
- Communicates regularly with claimants
- Advises claimants of the disposition of their claims
- Maintains records related to claims and expenses
- Assists with processing invoices submitted by claims vendors, including cleaning contracts
- Processes billed work (damage caused by others to WSSC Water vehicles, lines and structures)
- Analyzes and resolves liability issues

Minimum Education, Experience Requirements
- High School diploma (or equivalent)
- 1 years’ experience processing claims – OR – 2 years’ experience processing WSSC Water’s maintenance work orders in MMIS
