Position Summary:
The Associate Director of US Procurement is responsible for leading strategic sourcing and procurement activities across multiple sites in a Contract Research, Development, and Manufacturing Organization (CRDMO) environment. This role ensures the timely, cost-effective acquisition of raw materials, equipment, services, and capital expenditures (CAPEX), while adhering to quality and compliance standards. The Associate Director collaborates closely with internal stakeholders to identify and address sourcing needs, enhance procurement processes, and achieve organizational efficiency and savings objectives.

Looking for experience within the Pharm industry or Biologics industry with experience with CRDMO, Procurement, purchasing, GMP, SOP

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sourcing and Procurement Leadership
  • Lead all sourcing activities across multiple CRDMO sites, including raw materials, equipment, services, and CAPEX initiatives.
  • Ensure procurement aligns with business needs by delivering timely, cost-effective solutions that meet quality and regulatory standards.
  • Contract and Vendor Management
  • Oversee the RFx, MSA, and SOW processes, from vendor selection and bid evaluations to contract negotiation and finalization.
  • Conduct detailed assessments to ensure compliance with internal policies and industry standards, maintaining high levels of vendor quality and performance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with key stakeholders, including R&D, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, IT, and HR, to develop and implement procurement strategies that align with overall business goals.
  • Work closely with departments to ensure sourcing efforts are comprehensive and meet evolving needs.
  • Policy Development and Continuous Improvement
  • Develop, monitor, and optimize procurement policies, contracts, and service levels by staying current on market dynamics, industry trends, and regulatory updates.
  • Proactively recommend improvements to drive savings, enhance efficiencies, mitigate risk, and improve service levels.
  • Training and Support
  • Design and implement procurement and compliance training programs for end users, fostering a supportive learning environment.
  • Provide continuous support to end users to ensure a strong understanding of procurement, sourcing, and compliance processes.
  • Supplier Relationship Management
  • Establish and maintain open communication channels with suppliers through regular engagement, addressing concerns, and fostering feedback loops.
  • Cultivate long-term partnerships built on transparency, trust, and shared objectives for improvement and mutual success.
  • Cost Reduction and Strategic Sourcing
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives through strategic sourcing practices, such as supplier consolidation, competitive bidding, and implementing supplier performance metrics.
  • Achieve targeted savings goals, with a track record of delivering significant annual savings
  • Team Leadership and Development
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the site buyers, planning team, and supply chain professionals, fostering their development and enhancing team performance.
  • Support team members' professional growth and align their efforts with strategic procurement objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or supply chain management, ideally within a CRDMO or pharmaceutical environment.
  • Proven success in cost reduction, vendor relationship management, and procurement strategy development.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills with the ability to foster collaboration and drive results across cross-functional teams.

Education:
BS Degree

Experience:
6 years of previous purchasing experience within a manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment.

  • Experience with SAP an asset.

Equivalency:

  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.

Competencies:

  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Well organized and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong Project Management Skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical/problem solving, and communication skills.
  • Knowledgeable of commodity markets, price fluctuations and effect on material purchases.
  • Effective negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency with the English language.
  • Demonstrated commitment to our fundamental principles of Integrity, Respect and Excellence.
  • Ability to travel between sites within Ontario to provide on-site support as required.
