Summary/Objective

The Groundsman supports the crew by performing from the ground. The Groundsman observes all safety rules to guarantee a clean and safe work zone.

Essential Function

• Keep work are clear of debris to maintain a safe work zone.
• Define staging areas.
• Setting up and breaking down road signs in visible location as required.
• Prepare and feeding brush into wood chipper.
• Loading and unloading trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris.
• Using gasoline powered equipment.
• Operating various trucks and equipment.
• Tying knots, rope breaks, and speed lines according to industry standard.
• Safeguard employees and public from hazards in and around the work area.
• Able to work long hours and overtime during emergencies.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is working outdoors, exposed to all temperatures, weather, and nature. The Groundsman will be exposed to excessive noise.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The Groundsman must be able to clearly see objects up to 100 feet away, with or without corrective lenses.

The Groundsman enters and exits a vehicle numerous times a day. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required when working with the work zone.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Specific hours will be assigned by your supervisor. The Groundsman may be required to work overtime and/or weekends.

Travel

Occasional travel may be required.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in vegetation management and tree work.
• Valid Driver’s license required. CDL preferred.

Position requires employee to be able to pass a background check and drug screen as required for this job.
