Overview
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Mentor at the YMCA of Greater Monmouth County intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined. Under the supervision of the Program Director and the administrative staff of the Family Care Program, Parent Coaches will provide direct service to parents and caretakers referred to the program by the Division of Child Protection & Permanency (DCP&P) or by one of the systems partners of NJ’s Children’s System of Care.
Mentors are needed in the following areas in Monmouth & Ocean County: Monmouth County: Long Branch, Matawan, Middletown, Neptune, Asbury Park, Keansburg, Red Bank, Union Beach, Keyport, Eatontown, Howell, and Freehold Ocean County: Lakewood, Point Pleasant, Jackson, Toms River, Little Egg Harbor, and Manahawkin
Responsibilities
1. Provide individual direct service to parents referred by one of the possible referring agencies.2. Using tools in the designated curriculum, comply with goals developed by referring agencies and Clinical Coordinator of the Family Care Program.3. Maintain designated level of service as determined by referring agency.4. Maintain contact with referring agency as needed.5. Submit timely paperwork, which includes Service Delivery Encounter Forms, Progress Notes, Monthly Summaries and time cards. In addition opening paperwork and closing summaries will be completed.6. Attend Child/Family meetings as required by referring agency.7. Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.8. Demonstrate proficiency in the use of the Electronic Health Record.
Qualifications
- This position will require a minimum of high school diploma and a minimum of one year experience in the field of social services.
- Individuals with experience in parenting and teaching parenting skills will have priority within the program.
- Staff must also have a valid Driver’s License, Vehicle Registration, and Automobile Insurance.
- Candidates must possess good written and verbal communication skills, demonstrate a high level of cultural competence, sensitivity and are responsive to the needs of the population in which they will work.
- In addition, candidates will undergo a vigorous background check, including a criminal background check, sex offender registry check, motor vehicle check, and drug screening.
