Job Title: Homeschool Instructor
Reports to: Senior Program Director
Status: Non-Exempt
General Purpose:
Support YMCA Homeschool programs by implementing YMCA Homeschool curriculum while providing care, guidance and developmental experiences in accordance with YMCA guidelines and requirements. Maintain a positive view of YMCA Homeschool through daily professional interactions and responses. Supervise children in a safe environment as required by the Senior Program Director and Homeschool needs.
Responsibilities/Duties:
•Assist in creating and implementing daily curriculum based on advertised programing.
•Follow YMCA Homeschool schedule to ensure all programs run in a timely manner.
•Provide a safe and supportive environment where children can develop healthy self-esteem, focus on a child’s abilities rather than shortcomings and expose children to positive character traits.
•Provide supervision and set and maintain limits for children using positive reinforcement.
•Treat children, parents and staff with dignity and respect.
•Maintain a clean environment; be responsible for maintenance of equipment and supplies.
•Maintain good public relations with parents and communicate with the Senior Program Director.
•Ensure the health and safety of all children, including following reporting and release procedures of children.
•Demonstrate and teach character development values of Care, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
•Follow and enforce safety regulations and other YMCA Homeschool policies and procedures.
•Oversee YMCA Homeschool operations.
•Assist with YMCA Homeschool member involvement.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
•Carries out all responsibilities in an honest, ethical, and professional manner.
Minimum Qualifications:
The following are the minimum qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the duties & responsibilities of this position. Please note that the minimum qualifications may vary based upon tile department size and/or geographic location.
Education & Certification:
• 12 college units with 6 units in Child Development, Education. 6 units may be in Psychology, Sociology, Recreation, Physical Education, Art, and Music. Additional experience may offset education.
• Pediatric (EMSA) First Aid and Pediatric (EMSA) CPR certifications required within 60 days of employment.
• 15-hour preventative health practice certifications within, 90 days of employment.
• Complete YMCA core trainings within first 160 days of employment.
Experience & Background:
Must be 18 years of age with one year of experience working with children in a classroom setting.

•Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures.

Qualifications
