Description

POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides a safe, clean and friendly wellness environment and assists members in the use of all weights and cardio equipment. Conducts wellness session for new members. Maintains Health and Wellness area with keeping the equipment clean, neat and enforces rules and policies associated with the Health and Wellness Center and promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPECTATIONS:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Overarching Goal: Through their actions and daily work, creates and fosters a welcoming environment for all persons of all backgrounds and abilities and has a positive, nurturing relationships with staff and members, while building relationships with members.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Handle all responsibilities as they relate to the wellness floor which includes but not limited too:
cleanliness of machines, maintenance of machines, rules and policies of use of equipment and machines. Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
2. Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living.
3. Report to Wellness Coordinator when machines are not working.
4. Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.
5. Keeps accurate records for the wellness floor, including member numbers and machine logs.
6. Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. 1. Self-motivated to serve members, guests, and staff.
2. Must be at least 16.
3. Experience and knowledge of how to properly use weight room equipment and cardio machines in a fitness venue.
4. Ability to learn quickly.
5. Ability to work with integrity, discretion, and a professional approach.
6. Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.).
7. Ability to complete all required trainings within 60 days of employment, including but not limited to CPR, first aid, Living Our Cause, DCFS Mandated Report, IL Gateway Registry Modules and to maintain these certifications as current as outlined by regulations or requirements.

Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
May require physical effort while reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, balancing, bending, leaning, kneeling, walking and climbing.
- Specifically, o Walking up and down stairs multiple times a day, standing, walking, leaning, kneeling, and bending.
o Racking weights, moving chairs for classes, normally to high lifting up to 70 lbs.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
