Head Start – Teacher-in-Training

We are committed to providing high-quality child care and comprehensive education, health and well-being services to children from 6 weeks to 5 years. We are now hiring a Preschool Teacher in Training to join us in our mission of creating a warm and supportive environment where children and families can thrive.

Your role:
- Assists in planning, implementing and documenting a comprehensive child development program for preschool aged children.
- Assists in developing child focused goals in partnership with families, adhering to timelines and coordinating center/home visits with each family.
- Ensures program’s full compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and Maine State Licensing Requirements.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- The Teacher-in-Training must obtain a minimum of a Preschool CDA 12 months after they are hired in the position. YCCAC will financially support the Teacher-in-Training with completing their CDA.
- 3 or more years of experience in a center or home-based setting, specializing in Preschool with an emphasis on Preschool Mental Health theories or practices preferred.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours to meet families’ needs and have a reliable vehicle for travel.
- Immunized against MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) and TDaP (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis).
- Must be able to pass a background check, to include DHHS and fingerprinting.
