Role Overview:
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the CNC Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for supporting Manufacturing Operations through focus on process development, part programming, machine setup, and technical documentation. Position also involves application of root cause analysis, disciplined problem solving, continuous improvement mindset, focus on waste reduction, communication and project management skills. This position will participate in and/or lead cross functional teams focused on new product launches, process improvement projects, capital and automation projects. This position will interface directly with all levels of manufacturing and will be accountable for the principal job functions listed below.
Qualifications
Responsibilities:
- Adherence to company safety standards and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
- Proficiency with software like SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and G-code programming.
- Expertise in CAM software and tooling applications (e.g. speeds and feeds)
- Creating and maintaining Engineering documentation, ensuring accuracy and revision control of documents (e.g. drawings, tool layouts, inspection sheets)
- Assisting setup personnel with troubleshooting issues and providing guidance/training for apprentices.
- Project leadership for strategic capital projects focused on implementation of new processes and improvement of existing processes, working with customers/vendors.
- Effectively manage multiple projects achieving cost, performance and delivery expectations.
- Lead cross-functional review of product and process designs to provide the best customer value.
- Go to individual for CNC Manufacturing Engineering with a focus on improving upon current baseline for productivity and scrap, leading problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Conduct root cause analysis and corrective action for customer complaints and/or internal quality concerns.
- Maintain technical competency of emerging technologies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechanical Technology or Manufacturing Technology Engineering or equivalent experience (e.g. high school diploma with 5 years’ experience in manufacturing)
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
- Knowledge and experience with CNC Programming/Machining and G-code programming (manual and CAM software-based)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to all levels of the organization
- Effective technical writing skills
- Capital project management experience
- Assembly process design/improvement experience
- Proficient in SolidWorks and CAD
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Power Point, Word and Outlook)
- Comprehensive understanding of GD&T.
- Manufacturing experience – evidence of leading cross-functional teams and actively supporting members of the hourly production team
Physical Requirements:
- Manual dexterity and ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time. Able to bend, reach and lift up to 30 pounds.
Working Conditions:
- Office environment and exposure to manufacturing plant environment, with some abnormal variations in temperature, unavoidable fumes, noise, dust and atmospheric conditions. Potential exposure to mechanical parts, oils, and solvents.
- Minimal travel – up to 10%
