Position Summary:
The Credentialing and Medical Staff Support Specialist will be responsible for supporting the credentialing, privileging, enrollment, proctorship, and orientation processes for the Medical Staff and other providers at Monument Health. This role will assist in ensuring that all providers are appropriately credentialed and compliant with relevant regulations, and will support the smooth operation of the Medical Staff office by providing administrative assistance to leadership and staff.
Essential Functions:
- Assist with processing new and reappointment applications for medical staff, including verification of board certifications, state licenses, databanks, and exclusion checks.
- Provide support to the Credentialing and Privileging process and assist the Medical Staff Coordinator with related tasks.
- Communicate with the VPMA, Medical Staff Coordinator, and other department staff to ensure proper coordination and relay information as needed.
- Draft professional correspondence, memos, and reports based on Medical Staff and VPMA needs.
- Coordinate the orientation and proctorship processes for new physicians and other practitioners.
- Monitor and report expirations for physician and practitioner licenses, insurance, DEA numbers, TB test results, and other compliance-related documents.
- Prepare agendas and accurately record and transcribe meeting minutes for medical staff department meetings, committee meetings, and leadership meetings (i.e., Executive Council).
- Apply for and maintain compliance with Federal, State, and other third-party payor professional provider numbers for employed or contracted providers.
- Oversee and maintain the provider enrollment database, ensuring proper task management, communication, and file organization.
- Complete necessary enrollment, re-enrollment, and change applications in a timely and accurate manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
- Required: High School Diploma/GED Equivalent in General Studies
- Preferred: Associate’s Degree in Healthcare or related field
Certifications:
- None required
Orientation Period:
Minimum 2 weeks
Other Requirements:
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
Work Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- No weekend or holiday shifts required.
