RATE OF PAY: $70,000 - $78,000 / year
POSITION SUMMARY:
Manages domestic violence related programs provided through YWCA Sonoma County, including oversite of the confidential Safe House, Moving Into Safety program and community partner programs. Provides leadership, supervision and training to staff and volunteers within the domestic violence services program. Oversees the planning, implementation and evaluation of domestic violence programs at YWCA. Expands and strengthens a positive community image and develops staff and volunteers in a manner that reflects the vision, mission and goals of YWCA Sonoma County.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed:
Management and Supervision
- Oversees daily operation of Moving into Safety program, work with the Shelter Manager in the daily operation of 24/7 Emergency Shelter and hotline and provides support and assistance to advocates in multiple community agencies.
- Provides direct supervision to assigned staff. Responsible for recruitment, hiring, evaluation and termination of direct reports in coordination with executive management. Assists with succession planning and professional development opportunities for staff and volunteers.
- Develops and implements processes, procedures, and best practices that promote consistent expectations for performance among staff.
- Manages the on-call schedule and participates in the on-call rotation.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and with all applicable laws and regulations including administrative timekeeping. Provides coaching, motivation and feedback to staff and volunteers.
- Provides all other aspects of staff support/supervision as needed.
Program Planning and Implementation
- Responsible for the development and coordination of domestic violence services consistent with YWCA Values, mission and vision. Continually seeks ways to improve or enhance services.
- Provides leadership to program staff in developing and maintaining a planning process with long and/or short-range objectives that define the needs of clients and addresses these through programming, grant deliverables and advocacy.
- Responsible for ensuring that services are provided in a manner that meets the support needs of each individual and simultaneously addresses safety and emergency procedures. This includes implementing procedures to handle crisis intervention.
- Develops annual departmental goals in keeping with agency strategic goals and customer feedback.
- Provides oversight of all program records including client records, statistical data and other program-related documents to ensure Compliance with agency policies and procedures.
- Coordinates all other aspects of service delivery as needed.
- In collaboration with the Chief Program Officer and Chief Financial Officer, participates in the development and monitoring of the fiscal aspects of the domestic violence programs.
Community Outreach
- Works effectively as part of the management team to accomplish the mission of the organization. This includes developing and maintaining positive relations with other YWCA programs, government agencies, human service providers, law enforcement, and other entities that provide services which overlap with programs provided by the YWCA Sonoma County.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three to five years’ experience in the field of domestic violence, crisis intervention, shelter setting or other non-profit organization which provides services to under-served populations.
- Two years minimum of progressive responsibility supervising multiple programs and staff including responsibility for the planning, organization, implementation and supervision of varied programs.
- Proficient in Windows operating system, Microsoft Office Suite, database reporting with the capacity and willingness to learn additional software.
- Demonstratable proficiency in communication, organization and time management.
- Energetic, independent, self-directed, self-motivated, able to work under pressure.
- Skilled at meeting deadlines, managing multiple priorities, and assuring outcomes are met.
- Cooperative, diplomatic, and able to relate well with staff and clients from culturally diverse backgrounds.
- Possess a clear understanding of domestic violence and sexual assault issues, survivor-centered and empowerment-based services.
- The incumbent may make public appearances in the evenings and occasionally work on holidays and weekends. Will be required to respond to law enforcement and hospital personnel during off business hours on occasion. Willing to provide backup coverage and support to 24/7 hotline including weekends and holidays.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficiency in a language other than English, specifically Spanish or other locally significant languages.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field such as Human Services, Counseling, or Social Services preferred.
- Training and experience in community collaboration, domestic violence, public speaking, conflict resolution and de-escalation skills preferred.
CONDITIONS OF HIRE:
- Prior to employment, ability to pass agency fingerprinting/criminal background check, TB test and pre-employment physical.
- Own a working vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license and insurance to travel for work and outreach in the surrounding area.
- Must complete the 40-Hrs victim advocate training.
