Position: Health Educator
Position Status: Full-time
Salary Range: Pay grade starts at $19.75/hour. Salary will be reflective of education, credentials, and experience.
Scope: Coordinates grant activities and conducts health education programs in Muskingum County.
Essential Duties (including, but not limited to):
- Grant/Program Management: may include grant writing (initial and renewal); completing required reports (quarterly, annual, and final, etc.), planning and implementing related activities, developing a budget, tracking expenses, monitoring program outcomes, maintaining program files, managing databases, ordering necessary supplies and tracking inventory. Communicates with funding sources to ensure compliance with grant deliverables and to seek information as needed. Organizes or coordinates and participates in committees or coalitions pertaining to grant/program, including recruiting new members, sending meeting notices, developing agenda, recording meeting minutes and addressing meeting outcomes.
- Facilitate community led development of existing programs and expansion efforts.
- Coordinates with community partners to conduct and comprehend required health assessments of the impact populations, develop implementation and engagement plan, and plan for sustainability.
- Conduct health education programs for individuals and groups. This includes coordinating the scheduling of events, registration, promotion and evaluation, data collection and topical research, preparing lesson plans, handouts and other educational materials, making presentations.
- Collaborates with staff members in performance of other programs and activities. This may include making presentations, collecting or sharing data, proof reading of copy, writing articles, and meeting preparation. Works as a team member on agency sponsored programs and events such as flu clinics, health fairs, specialty clinics, etc. Assists with planning and implementation of new programs for the agency. Seeks additional funding (writes grants, requests donations) to support needed or requested programming.
- Assist with ZMCHD’s marketing and branding efforts by attending health fairs and special events, preparing displays for events, developing educational materials and working with the ZMCHD PIO and media.

Other Duties:
- May be required to report to the Department Operations Center (DOC) in the event of a public health emergency.
Minimum Qualifications: An appropriate combination of education, training, course work, and experience may qualify an applicant to demonstrate required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of an acceptable qualification is:
- High school diploma or GED
- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Health Education, Policy and Planning, Communication, or related field of study
- Experience with community health promotion, facilitation of community groups, and grant management necessary
- Preferred experience in project management, group facilitation and training, partnership building, and public speaking
- Valid driver’s license with access to reliable transportation
- Non-tobacco user
- Ability to document identity and employment eligibility within 3 days of original appointment as a condition of employment in compliance with Immigration Reform & Control Act requirements.
