Summary: This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of package delivery services within a singular FedEx Ground terminal. The Manager will have a strong daily presence at the FedEx Ground terminal, as well as build and maintain strong, positive working relationships with all FedEx employees.

Essential Functions

● Responsible for ensuring all daily P&D routes are staffed, trucks are operational, and the routes are generating sufficient revenue
● Responsible for recording and reporting time sheets for payroll
● Develop and maintain a relationship with a reputable and affordable vendor to perform maintenance and repairs
● Coordinate and schedule maintenance and repairs on equipment at regular intervals to avoid unnecessary breakdowns
● Responsible for the training of every new driver to ensure compliance with all company policies and regulations
● Responsible for ensuring Driver compliance with daily duties regarding paperwork, Hours of Service compliance, Pre-Trip/Post-Trip inspection
● Creates a culture of safety and ensuring each driver is up to date on all monthly safety training
● Coordinates with FedEx Ground staff to execute a plan that maximizes the profitability for the company
● Responsible for ensuring we are providing quality service to FedEx Ground with available drivers and operable equipment to deliver packages
● Provides recruiting support to Human Resources team by meeting with candidates to ensure pre-employment tasks, determined by state and federal laws are completed in a timely manner
● Responsible for managing budget and expenses for a designated terminal/location
● Works closely with Fleet Manager to ensure fleet is operating and maintenance is routinely performed on all trucks
● Responsible for performance management of all Drivers assigned to terminal/location
● Physically willing, ready, and able to drive a P-1200 sized vehicle (18-22ft in length) and safely deliver packages to both residential and commercial recipients
● Excellent contingency planner – establishing relationships with part-time drivers as well as other FedEx contractors in the building to help one another out in times of need
● Willing to serve as a contingency resource and delivery packages in the event of driver call offs, driver shortages, heavy volume, or any other unforeseen circumstances
Requirements
● Transportation experience in dispatch and/or operations supervision a plus
● Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
● Detail oriented with an ability to positively influence others across multiple groups
● An ability to work independently relying on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish tasks
● Excellent oral and written communication skills
● Knowledge or willingness to learn electronic transportation platforms and software (GroundCloud & DRO by RouteSmart)
● Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulation
Supervisory Responsibility
This position manages all Pickup and Delivery employees at assigned designated locations and is responsible for the performance management of the employees within that area. This position assists with retention efforts in assigned designated areas.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee can be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. This position is performed inside and outside in all weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position operating from a remote location. This position regularly requires long hours and weekend work.
Days and hours of work require a vast amount of variability providing 24/7 coverage to meet business needs.
Travel
Travel is local and out-of-the area. This position requires the ability to travel 30% -50% of the time.
Required Education and Experience
Transportation experience in dispatch and/or operations supervision a plus

Excellent oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of electronic transportation platforms and software. (i.e. Ground Cloud)
