Job Overview :
The Restaurant Captain plays a key leadership role within the service team, ensuring a smooth and efficient dining experience for guests. This role involves overseeing service staff, managing guest relations, and ensuring that guests receive top-quality service. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, an excellent knowledge of the menu and wine list, and the ability to handle both front-of-house operations and customer interactions.
Key Responsibilities :
- Supervise and lead the service team, including servers and other front-of-house staff, to ensure exceptional customer service.
- Greet and seat guests as they arrive, ensuring they are comfortable and promptly attended to.
- Assist guests with menu recommendations, wine pairings, and any dietary or allergen concerns.
- Monitor service quality, ensuring that food and drinks are served promptly and correctly, and that guest needs are met in a timely manner.
- Maintain the dining area's ambiance by ensuring the cleanliness and organization of the dining area and service stations.
- Handle guest complaints or issues professionally, working to resolve them in a manner that exceeds customer expectations.
- Coordinate with the kitchen and bar staff to ensure smooth service and timely delivery of food and beverages.
- Train and mentor new staff, providing guidance on service standards, product knowledge, and customer relations.
- Ensure staff are following proper service protocols, including etiquette, presentation standards, and health and safety regulations.
- Assist with inventory management by ensuring the restaurant is well-stocked with necessary supplies.
- Monitor guest satisfaction throughout their visit and ensure they are receiving excellent service.
- Assist in managing reservations and ensure the restaurant's seating capacity is effectively utilized.
- Ensure proper opening and closing procedures are followed, including cash handling and the securing of the restaurant at the end of shifts.
