for Aerial Robots at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Aarhus
University, Denmark.


Expected start date and duration of employment

This is a 1-year position from 01/08/2025 or as soon as possible. The starting date can
be before or after 01/08/2025 depending on the circumstances.


Job description

Research in this project involves a synergistic combination of intelligent control and aerial robotics for the navigation in uncertain environment.

You will be mainly responsible for:

• development of machine-learning algorithms for unmanned aerial vehicles;
• dissemination of the results in international conferences and journals;
• proposal writing for external funds.

 

Your profile

The successful candidate should hold a PhD degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, computer engineering, computer science or similar.

Required skills:

• Good programming skills in C or Python
• Working knowledge of ROS
• Publication experience
• Excellent communication and language skills
• Teaching experience

Preferred skills:

• Experience with UAV control
• Concrete experience in machine learning
• Practical and hands-on skills

The Artificial Intelligence in Robotics (AiR) group, led by Dr. Andriy Sarabakha, focuses on the intersection of control systems, computational intelligence and robotic vision with applications in guidance, control and automation of aerial vehicles.

Deadline

Applications must be received no later than 30/04/2025.

Application procedure

Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns him/her self. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants.

Formalities and salary range

Technical Sciences refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
