Senior Design Manager

POSTED ON 4/24/2025 AVAILABLE BEFORE 5/24/2025
COWI A/S Kgs. Lyngby, Full Time

Ready to Lead Change? Join COWI and shape the future of infrastructure. We're driving innovation and sustainability across the Nordics and beyond. We are looking for a skilled Senior Design Manager to take the lead on major road and highway projects, and other transportation infrastructure projects, in Denmark. Be at the heart of multidisciplinary collaboration and make your mark from concept to construction.

Contribute to change. Build with purpose.
At COWI, we collaborate on some of the most complex and exciting infrastructure projects in the Nordics and around the globe. With sustainability and innovation at our core, we are seeking a skilled Design Manager to lead multidisciplinary design efforts for road and highway projects and other transportation infrastructure projects in Denmark. As a Design Manager, you will be a key driver in the success of our infrastructure projects - from early planning through detailed design.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Lead and coordinate design processes across all project phases and ensure delivery according to schedule, budget, quality, and safety requirements
  • Maintain effective communication with internal teams, clients, vendors, and subconsultants
  • Plan workflows and define responsibilities across disciplines
  • Oversee design integration and interface coordination between disciplines
  • Chair design meetings and provide technical leadership
  • Mentor junior and intermediate design leaders on smaller projects
  • Promote digital innovation and sustainable solutions in project delivery

Your skills. Our team. Together we design the future.
The initial requirement for this position is your willingness to collaborate with colleagues, partners, and customers alike. Developing ties with others is something you do by acting respectfully and delivering on your promises. And you never get set in your way but keep exploring new insights and ways to improve.

On top of that, you will have:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent
  • 10 years of experience in design and technical leadership for multidisciplinary road/highway projects in Denmark
  • Strong communication skills in Danish and English, including working with international teams
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset with the ability to balance persistence and diplomacy
  • Experience ensuring compliance with Danish and international technical standards and regulations
  • A keen eye for quality assurance and customer satisfaction

A place to work and so much more
At COWI, we work together with our customers to shape a sustainable and liveable world. We do it by applying our knowledge and curiosity – and sometimes even our motivation – to create the solutions the world needs today to enable a better tomorrow. That is why we say no to fossil-based projects and aspire to have our revenue come from activities that move our customers towards sustainability.

We value differences and development and cultivate an environment of belonging and having fun. Because that is what brings out the best in you, at work and at home.

With offices primarily located in the Nordic region, the UK, North America and India, we are currently more than 8,000 people who bring their expertise in engineering, architecture, energy and environment into play.

Before you apply
All you need to include in your application is your CV – no photo or application letter. At an interview, you can tell us everything we need to know about why you’re interested in joining COWI. As for the photo, we prefer to form our first impression in person rather than from a picture.

Diversity is fundamental to COWI, inclusion is key
We are committed to creating a respectful and fair work environment where all employees have a sense of belonging and equitable opportunities to thrive and grow. We ensure that our leaders are role models for inclusive leadership by cultivating a culture where diverse perspectives and thoughts are seen as strengths. We do it because it is part of our values and because it is simply the right thing to do.
