Are you an experienced researcher around thermal energy systems, sustainable heating and cooling for industries, and hybrid energy optimization? Are you seeking a unique opportunity to make an impact on this area? We have a great opportunity for you at the Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering (DTU-Construct) of the Technical University of Denmark!

We're seeking individuals who are passionate about energy efficiency and decarbonization, with a focus on thermal applications, sustainable heating and cooling, techno-economic optimization, and district heating and cooling systems, and who are ready to contribute to the pioneering work being done at our institution.

By joining us, you will have access to state-of-the-art facilities and expert assistance for developing your courses and writing research funding proposals for Danish and EU platforms. We actively facilitate strengthening your professional networks, both within Denmark and the EU, extending our support to aid you in attracting top students to your research area.

Responsibilities and qualifications
The primary purpose of the Tenure Track Researcher's role in our Thermal Energy Section is to reinforce our expertise in the broad area of Thermal Energy Systems. This role is instrumental in attracting both funding and student talent to expand our activities in these areas. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for developing a pioneering team of research in this specific area and collaborating with other colleagues in the section with relevant expertise in thermal energy systems.

As a part of your key responsibilities, you will:

  • Contribute to securing funding for your research area from both Denmark and the European Union.
  • Contribute to teaching, guiding, and supervising BSc, MSc, and PhD projects, as well as postdoctoral researchers.
  • Actively participate in creating a robust and vibrant environment within the Thermal Energy section.

This role requires a deep understanding of areas related to future energy systems, energy efficiency, decarbonization, and advanced heat transfer technologies to tackle the challenges towards future sustainable energy systems, distinguishing ability/interest in attracting funding, and a commitment to teaching and mentorship. Your ability to work collaboratively and foster a supportive, innovative learning environment will be key to your success.

We are recruiting candidates with a strong track record of publications (books and WoS-indexed journals and reputed conferences) and finished/ongoing funded projects from competitive platforms on the following specific topics, among others, for instance:

  • Sustainable heating and cooling solution for industrial applications
  • District heating systems, technologies and integration
  • Heat pump technology, modeling and applications
  • Integration of renewable energy in industrial heating and cooling systems

You must contribute to the teaching of courses. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.

As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) with substantial post-PhD experience, including teaching thermal energy courses and conducting research in this field.

You will be assessed against the responsibilities and qualifications stated above and the following general criteria:

  • Research experience
  • Experience and quality of teaching
  • Research vision and potential
  • International impact and experience
  • Societal impact
  • Innovativeness, including commercialization and collaboration with industry
  • Leadership, collaboration, and interdisciplinary skills
