Job Posting for Quantitative analyst for European Gas Trading at Danske Commodities

Are you skilled in stochastic modelling and pricing of vanilla and exotic options? Do you thrive on bringing models to the markets by devising hedging strategies in collaboration with traders?

Here’s what the job entails
In this role, your primary responsibility will be to develop, calibrate and maintain our models for pricing exotic options. You will be part of raising the bar for how we manage complex risk in our structured gas portfolio, and you will get to see your models being used for decision-making in a portfolio of significant size. You will work closely with our structured traders, quantitative analysts and software developers.

Your responsibilities include:
  • developing models for pricing and risk-managing exotic options, such as gas storage contracts, swing options, vanilla options and transmission capacities
  • maintaining and calibrating models to market signals
  • building strategies for hedging and trading our structured gas portfolio in collaboration with the traders
  • ensuring high reliability in automated systems for model calibration and delivery

Meet the team
You will join the Gas Modelling & Data team, where we ensure that the gas traders and portfolio managers always have the best information available to make the right decisions. Working primarily in Python, we build and maintain a large array of models and applications ranging from simple data visualisations to advanced asset pricing models and machine learning forecasts of fundamental trading signals.

Our team is part of the European Gas Trading unit which trades on the spot, prompt and forward gas markets and manages a large portfolio of flexibility, for instance gas storages. We therefore have a sophisticated landscape of systems and models to optimise value creation, and we are always developing.

We are a team of diligent professionals with diverse academic backgrounds and nationalities, who care about creating high-quality models and analyses through collaboration and knowledge sharing, but also a great deal of individual responsibility.

But enough about us… over to you!
As we operate in a complex and ever-changing environment, we picture you as someone curious and willing to continuously grow. As you will work with many different employees, from traders to quantitative analysts and software developers, we are looking for someone with great communication and collaboration skills.

We also imagine that you:
  • hold a MSc or PhD (or are about to graduate) in a quantitative field, for instance mathematics-economics, financial engineering or mathematics
  • have experience with modelling and pricing real and/or financial options
  • have a deep understanding of modelling methods used for pricing and risk management of vanilla and exotic options, including stochastic and local volatility methods
  • have a minimum of two years of programming experience in a relevant language such as Python
  • are proficient in English – both written and spoken

Please note that prior knowledge of the energy industry is not required for this role.
