Bike Mechanic/Fleet Assistant

Bike Mechanic (Donkey Republic Shepherd) - full-time, weekend shifts available

Erdem, who grew up in Istanbul, saw how bicycles are the key to more liveable cities, the environment and health." One of the founders of Donkey Republic, he saw in Copenhagen in 2012 how a number of friends from different cities shared bicycles with the location and sent the combination lock code via SMS. He thought there should be an easier way. The start was funded with a Kickstarter. Today, Donkey Republic is active in more than 80 European cities with 17,000 bicycles. The goal is still there: more cyclists with fewer bicycles. We are looking for a few new colleagues to support the growing (e-)bike fleet in the company's home city Copenhagen, assisting with daily operations and maintenance of the bicycles. You will become part of a growing team of bicycle enthusiasts: Donkey Shepherds.

A Typical Day

You start your shift at 08:30 from one of our workshops in either Vesterbro or Søborg, where you plan your day with our app, prepare spare parts, and review your tasks for the day. Half the shifts in a month, you’ll be out riding an electric cargo bike to repair bikes around the city, working outdoors in fresh air. The other half of your shifts, you'll work in the workshop performing repairs on the bicycles.

Duties

• Repairing bicycles, outside but sometimes also in the workshop;
• Making new bicycles roadworthy;
• Carrying out preventive maintenance;
• Redistribute bicycles to serve more happy customers
  
  

What We Expect

• You like spending time outside;
• You have hands-on mentality;
• Experience with repairing bicycles; we offer additional training on-site;
• You have an eye for detail;
• You are structured;
• You like to work independently, mainly outside, but also enjoy working in a team;
• Good verbal English skills. No Danish requirement;
