Who are we?
Danish Refugee Council is a leading protection agency pursuing our mandate to protect and promote durable solutions to displacement-affected populations based on humanitarian principles. The Syria Country Office is part of the Middle East North Africa Region, which also comprises Türkiye, Yemen, Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan, occupied Palestinian territories. The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) has been operating in Syria since 2008, beginning with the response to the Iraqi refugee influx. DRC’s operational capacity expanded at the onset of the Syria crisis focusing on the most vulnerable and at-risk conflict-affected populations. With the collapse of the former Syrian government, the space for engagement in Syria has expanded and DRC has potential to provide much-needed humanitarian and resilience support to both the internally displaced populations and the Syrians who are returning.
DRC focuses on increasing safe access of conflict-affected populations to resilience-strengthening, lifesaving and life-sustaining activities. We support communities via both resilience and emergency response programs, strengthening access to basic needs and protection services.
