Senior Researcher/Team Leader with focus on translational cardiometabolic research

A part-time position as Senior Researcher/Team Leader is available at Cardio-Metabolic Prevention, Clinical and Translational Research, Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen (SDCC), from June 1, 2025. The position is open for medical doctors holding a PhD and with more than three years of postdoctoral experience.

About the research group – Cardio-Metabolic Prevention performs research in cardiometabolic disease, a group of common and interconnected conditions such as overweight, type 2 diabetes, atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, heart failure, and steatotic liver disease. We aim to investigate and develop effective pharmacological as well as lifestyle interventions to prevent the development and progression of cardiometabolic diseases. Furthermore, we work to improve the understanding of the mechanisms that lead to cardiometabolic disease. Our studies involve both detailed physiological studies of smaller groups of individuals as well as larger clinical studies involving several hundred individuals.

The candidate – We are looking for a highly motivated and qualified candidate with an MD and a PhD in the field of cardiometabolic research. The ideal candidate has documented experience in clinical research related to both metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. Experience with experimental methods such as glycaemic clamps, continuous glucose monitoring, advanced cardiac rhythm monitoring, and cardiovascular imaging is highly desirable. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate a proven track record in securing external research funding, organizing scientific meetings, and supervising postdocs and PhD students. Demonstrated leadership experience will be an advantage. Strong collaboration skills, a proactive attitude, and a positive mindset are essential for success in this role.

Terms –The Senior Researcher will be offered a part-time position (up to 50 %). Employment will be in accordance with the relevant collective agreement within the Capital Region of Denmark.
