LEAD THE MECHANICAL DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT OF A NOVEL NUCLEAR REACTOR

THE ROLE

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer with a background in system design and development within the nuclear or thermal power generation industries.

In this role, you will be at the forefront of mechanical design and integration of both reactor and power barge structures, systems and components, ensuring technical alignment and supporting manufacturing assessment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS

  • Lead mechanical design within a multi-disciplinary engineering project for various structures, systems and components (SSC’s) for example pressure vessels and piping.
  • Provide technical direction for the mechanical discipline, providing guidance, technical oversight, and decision-making support in collaboration with the Engineering Manager.
  • Support the definition of mechanical architecture, system and sub-system requirements along with their verification and validation.
  • Facilitate integration between reactor and barge systems to ensure geometric & manufacturing feasibility.
  • Support the continuous improvement of the Mechanical Engineering function, including processes and tools.
  • Perform mechanical design activities across the plant including design by rule and ideally design by analysis (finite element analysis).
  • Guidance & supervision of CAD users for producing detailed technical drawings.

PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience designing mechanical systems and components in the nuclear or thermal power generation field.
  • Knowledge of codes and standards such as ASME.III.Div1 and ASME.VIII.Div1 & Div2.
  • Understanding of manufacturing tolerances, materials properties, welding techniques, in addition to manufacturing & quality assurance requirements.
  • Background or experience with manufacturing of different components is highly beneficial.
