Lead ML Engineer | Energy Trading | Hamburg

AI Futures have been retained exclusively to find the first ML Engineer for a $15 billion revenue energy and trading company.

Headquartered in Hamburg, this is a $15bn revenue Energy and Trading company who are delivering record profits, have a strong balance sheet and are hugely acquisitive. This is one of the few companies of their size in Germany who are at the start of their journey with Data & Analytics and AI. The CEO is from a triple A rated, Wall Street Investment Bank and is committed to investing in transformative AI.

You will work on building a first wave of machine learning products, starting with dynamic pricing models for the Sales and Marketing team - helping to optimize pricing strategies for the fuel cards business. You will collaborate with the Analytics and Platform team to deploy and measure the accuracy of the forecasting models. This is the first ML use case for the team, with more high-impact use cases to come.

The Role

• Lead the design and deployment of the first dynamic pricing models into production
• Transform the data platform into an ML-ready environment
• Design, build, and maintain robust training and inference pipelines using modern MLOps tools and best practices
• Drive experimentation and development of future models, incl. demand forecasting, sales optimization, and customer behavior modelling
• Shape the technical vision for ML — from tooling and infrastructure to data quality and governance.

The Candidate

• Solid experience building and deploying ML models in production
• Experience with dynamic pricing and demand forecasting
• Strong programming skills and hands-on experience with ML libraries
• Experience designing ML pipelines, e.g. MLflow, Airflow, SageMaker
• Understanding of data engineering, e.g. data lakes, warehouses, ETL pipelines
• Experience with Azure and Databricks is desired
• You must be in Hamburg 1-2 days per week
