Vice President (Sr. Associate) – M&A Advisory (Frankfurt)

Location: Frankfurt, Germany

Type: Full-time


Our clients, International M&A Boutique are seeking an experienced and driven Vice President (VP) to join their M&A team in Frankfurt. As a VP, you will be responsible for leading transaction execution, managing client relationships, and overseeing junior staff. You will work closely with senior leadership on complex M&A deals, providing both strategic and tactical guidance throughout the entire transaction process. This is a critical role for a high-performing individual with significant experience in M&A who is looking to further develop their career in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

Transaction Execution

  • Lead the execution of M&A transactions, including sell-side and buy-side mandates, from inception to closing.
  • Oversee all aspects of the deal process, including due diligence, financial modeling, valuation analysis, and contract negotiations.
  • Coordinate with legal, tax, and financial advisors to ensure smooth execution of deals.

Client Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong, long-term relationships with senior executives and decision-makers.
  • Advise clients on M&A strategy, deal structuring, and valuation to ensure the best outcomes for their business.
  • Present transaction updates and key insights to clients and internal stakeholders.

Financial Analysis and Valuation

  • Develop and review complex financial models, valuations, and forecasts for potential and ongoing transactions.
  • Perform in-depth financial and strategic analysis of target companies and advise on the optimal deal structure.
  • Review materials prepared by the team, including information memoranda, management presentations, and pitch books.

Deal Sourcing and Business Development

  • Assist in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities for the firm, including building relationships with potential clients and industry contacts.
  • Support senior leadership in generating new M&A deal flow through market research, networking, and leveraging existing relationships.
  • Contribute to the preparation and delivery of client pitches and proposals.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead and mentor junior team members (analysts and associates), overseeing their work and fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of work products prepared by the team, providing feedback and coaching where necessary.
  • Support the professional development of the team by sharing knowledge and providing guidance on M&A best practices.

Market Insights and Sector Expertise

  • Stay up-to-date with market trends, deal activity, and macroeconomic factors that may impact clients and transactions.
  • Provide sector-specific insights and expertise to clients, ensuring that advice is relevant and informed by the latest industry developments.
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of key industries and sectors that are relevant to the firm’s clients and transactions.


Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related field. A Master’s degree, MBA, or CFA is strongly preferred.
  • Experience: 4-7 years of experience in investment banking, corporate finance, or M&A advisory, with a strong track record of successfully executing deals.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in financial modeling, valuation techniques (DCF, LBO, multiples), and transaction structuring.
  • Sector Expertise: Prior experience in Tech sector is strongly preferred.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated experience in leading deal teams and managing junior staff in high-pressure environments.
  • Client Management: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with clients at the senior executive level.
  • Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen understanding of financial statements and business drivers.
  • Business Development: Proven ability to contribute to business development efforts, including sourcing deals, pitching to clients, and winning mandates.
  • Languages: Fluency in English and German is required.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail, with a focus on delivering high-quality work under tight deadlines.
  • Collaborative: A team player who thrives in a collaborative environment, with strong leadership qualities and a commitment to mentoring junior team members.
