THE ROLE

As the Subcontract Manager at Damen Naval, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of for assigned subcontracts within our naval shipbuilding projects. You will be assigned to the prestigious F126 project, where Damen Naval is building new Frigates for the German Navy. In this role you will lead and manage all aspects of assigned parts of the projects to ensure that the project equipment, components and materials are completed and installed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will also facilitate collaboration and interaction with clients and the Damen internal organisation. Good command of the German language is a big plus. You also need to be available for occasional travelling to subcontractors in Germany and the building sites.

Key Accountabilities

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage and coordinate subcontractors and suppliers to achieve project objectives, with a focus on timely execution and short- to medium-term goals.
  • Ensure full compliance with project requirements and specifications, while effectively managing changes and fostering strong subcontractor relationships.
  • Oversee integration activities to guarantee seamless delivery of all project obligations and deliverables.
  • Participate in critical quality reviews and milestones, including FAT, HAT, and SAT, to uphold compliance and ensure project excellence.
  • Conduct evaluations and analyses to optimize planning and execution, driving efficiency and success.

Skills & Experience

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of proven expertise in managing manufacturing activities for large and complex industry, offshore or naval solutions, preferably in shipbuilding or defense-related industries.
  • Possession of IMPA D or an equivalent international project management certification.
  • Solid knowledge of engineering principles, including complex Electrical Engineering and Automation systems.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in (technical) business administration, engineering, or another relevant field of study.
  • Strong command of English is required, and proficiency in German is highly advantageous due to the nature of the role.
  • Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
