The Advanced Systems Engineering unit at Nokia Technologies is a focused and experienced organization that enhances engineering capabilities in new product development and patent and technology licensing. Playing a central role in systems development, product incubation, product management, and technology licensing activities, the team aims to facilitate the adoption of new technologies and innovations from Nokia while creating new revenue streams and licensing opportunities. With extensive experience in R&D and a proven track record in inventions and successful products, the team is seeking enthusiastic students for internships or Master's thesis work in Visual Systems, Optics, and Visual System Validation to support cutting-edge AR display solutions for the automotive sector. Depending on the candidate's background, the work involves designing and evaluating geometric and diffractive optics and waveguide-based optical systems for automotive head-up displays, while addressing research challenges with an innovative approach. For those nearing the completion of their M.Sc. studies, the position also offers the possibility of thesis work.
In this role, you will be working with our team on-site in Tampere - the home base of most of our development activities. Given the hands-on nature of our work, a significant part of your work is expected to take place on premises in our development site and laboratories in Tampere. There may be some opportunities for travel as well.
This position has funding until December 2025, i.e., this is not just a summer intern position.
