Director Power Electronics

Pacific International is partnering with a leading business in the electric powertrain industry. This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing business unit at the forefront of electric and hybrid vehicle technologies.

The Power Electronics Director will play a pivotal role in shaping the business’s future by leading the development of world-class power electronics solutions for vehicle powertrains. Based in Finland, this position oversees a global team across multiple locations, including Finland, the USA, and India. The successful candidate will be an experienced leader with a passion for driving innovation and developing cutting-edge technologies for heavy-duty vehicles and marine applications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership in the development of power electronics technologies for vehicle powertrains.
• Collaborate with the global technology group to define and execute the long-term technology roadmap.
• Lead new product development to meet project timelines and technical requirements.
• Manage and mentor a diverse global team of electronics and hardware engineers.
• Work with key suppliers to ensure alignment with technology and product roadmaps.
• Collaborate with the sales team to maintain technical alignment with customer requirements and support RFI/RFQ responses.
• Ensure transparency in project progress through regular stakeholder meetings and accurate reporting.
• Occasionally assist in writing programme funding proposals.
• Foster a strong focus on customer satisfaction, safety, quality, and team performance.

Background & Skills:

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in a relevant field such as Power Electronics or Electronics Engineering.
• Significant experience (10 years) in power electronics, ideally in vehicle powertrains, automotive, off-highway vehicles, commercial vehicles, or marine applications.
• In-depth knowledge of system voltages up to 850Vdc, IGBT(Si), and Wide Band Gap (SiC, GaN) semiconductor technologies.
• Experience in industrialisation and design for manufacture.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop high-performing teams.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
• Proficiency in documentation, safety management, eCAD, simulation tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
