The position has been established for the purpose of supporting the Marine Operations Team. The candidate will be joining a current team of experienced personnel to enhance the capacity and capability of the Division, in light of the ever-increasing workload. The general scope of this team is the marine operation, compliance of the fleet with ISM/ISPS/MLC requirements and crew management. The scope is quite broad, and due to the operational peculiarity of the fleet (cable installation, subsea work, project work), it is quite different from operations in conventional blue-water shipping.
Responsibilities:
Marine Operations:
- Assists in the vessel operation, such as:
- Agent selection and nomination; Checks PDAs
- Checks final disbursement accounts (FDA)
- Communicates with all parties concerned for the correction and approval of same
- Communicates with vessel, agents and third parties relating to vessel movement
- Assists in the preparation of vessels for employments, departures, arrivals etc.; Attendance onboard if/when required
- Assists in the checking of compliance of vessel with future and potential project/employment demands, and identifying methods and solutions for fulfillment
- Attendance onboard for the performance of:
- Vessel internal inspections
- Preparation of reports
- Identification on non-conformities & reporting to supervisor
- Reviews of vessels' requisitions, checks, verifies, evaluates, amends as necessary and forwards to the Supplies Team for execution
- Follows-up on requisitions, deliveries to the vessels, provides feedback to the Supplies Team, etc
- Assists in the procedures of crew rotation, evaluation, training, certification, etc
- Builds up and maintains files for the department
- Observes departmental budgets
- Assists in the preparation of vessels for DP Annual Audits and FMEA
- Attendance onboard if/when required to support Master and coordinate accordingly
Regulatory Compliance:
- Identification of problems and non-conformities
- Provides suggestions for amendments if needed
- Attendance onboard during Class Surveys (occasional or scheduled) and liaising with Surveyors and other involved parties for the expediting and facilitation of same
- Preparation for and attendance onboard during vessel DryDocking (DD), project mobilization and demobilization, chartering On-Hire and Off-Hire inspections
Inter-departmental Communication:
- Communicates with vessels' crew members; Provides feedback to Crew Manager
- Reports to Supervisor, Technical Management, General Management, as the case may be
- Cooperates with the Supplies Team for the procurement of required services, equipment, materials and feedback on quality
- Cooperates with Commercial/Engineering department
External communication:
- Communicates with service providers and suppliers
- Communicates with third-party surveyors and other inspectors
- Communicates with client/charterer representatives
Requirements
- Degree in Shipping (BSc or equivalent) and/or formal training in operation of vessels, such as Master's diploma
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar position or actual sea-going experience as a Vessel Master
- Conversant with Electronic Planned Maintenance Systems (e.g., DANAOS, AMOS-D, TM-Master, etc.)
- Conversant with the ISM, STCW and ISPS Codes
- General knowledge of Classification, SOLAS Convention, MARPOL Convention and other pertinent IMO rules and guidelines is necessary
- Clear and effective oral and written communication skills in English language
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office required
