Junior Ecologist - Full Time – Based in Letterkenny
The Company & Position:
AVRIO Environmental Management (“AVRIO”) is a turnkey environmental solutions organisation providing environmental management and consulting to a range of organisations throughout Ireland and the U.K. As a result of continued business growth, the organisation is seeking a Junior Ecologist to join the growing team. The position will be based out of the Letterkenny divisional office.
The Candidate & Role:
The successful candidate would enjoy an all-important balance between practical field and desk-based working environments, whilst working on a variety of projects across a range of sectors. They would be involved in all areas of our work within the ecological division, finding ecologically smart, commercially efficient and cost-effective solutions for projects on a variety of scales.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing a wide and varied workload;
- Undertaking site surveys;
- Liaising with clients to develop lasting relationships;
- Ecological Impact Assessment;
- Habitats Regulations Assessment;
- Ecological Mitigation Design and Implementation;
- Ecological Clerk of Works;
Skills/Experience Required:
- Educated to degree level in ecology or a directly related subject;
- Chartered Institute of Ecology & Environmental Management Membership, preferred but not essential;
- Protected habitat and species experience, preferred but not essential;
- Invasive species management experience, preferred but not essential;
- Good knowledge of U.K., Irish and E.U. Wildlife Legislation and best practice survey techniques;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills including report writing skills, attention to detail and ability to write concise reports;
- Technical experience producing ecological assessment and reporting in a wide range of areas, preferred but not essential;
- Ability to work independently, take the initiative, make robust, defensible decisions and work to tight deadlines to meet client needs;
- Experience in preparation and writing ecological sections of various environmental and ecological assessments ensuring that legislative guidelines are adhered to;
- Full driving license and willingness to travel and undertake fieldwork in Ireland and the U.K.

This is a full-time position.
Salary: €28,000.00 - €30,000.00 (depending on experience)
