Funeral Assistant

Coughlan's Funeral Home pride ourselves on providing the highest standards of quality,

compassion, and professionalism to bereaved families during their time of grief. We are

currently expanding our team and are seeking a competent Funeral Assistant on a full time

permanent basis, who will be engaged in all aspects of funeral services, including driving the

funeral vehicles.

Job Purpose:

To support the Funeral Director in delivering funeral services, ensuring the highest standards of care and compassion are provided to the bereaved.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist in the preparation and organisation of funerals, including liaising with clients

and third parties.

- Participate in the preparation and presentation of the deceased, ensuring they are

treated with dignity and respect.

- Drive funeral vehicles, ensuring safe and professional transportation of the deceased

and family members.

- Assist in the maintenance and cleanliness of funeral service areas, vehicles, and

equipment.

- Provide support during funeral services, including carrying coffins and guiding

mourners.

- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to funeral services.

- Offer emotional support to bereaved families in a compassionate and respectful

manner.

- Perform other duties as assigned by the Funeral Director to ensure the smooth

operation of the funeral service.

Essential Requirements:

- Full, clean driving licence free from disqualification and medical limitations on

appointment.

- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, including coffins.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.

- Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends.

- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.

- Non-EU candidates must hold a current valid relevant visa/permit that allows them to

commence full time permanent employment in Ireland with no restrictions.

- Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous but not essential as full training

will be provided.
