Developer (Business Intelligence/SQL)

We currently require a SQL / Business Intelligence Developer to work as part of the development team which is responsible for supporting and developing the SQL and Business Intelligence (BI) environment within the Dawn Meats Group. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager for BI and Development, t he ideal candidate will have some experience in SQL and/or BI/Reporting design and development and will have experience working in an IT Support environment. The successful candidate will also possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and enjoy interacting with end users in a dynamic, fast paced business environment

Responsibilities

The role:

• Design, Develop and Deploy BI Reports, Dashboards and Reports;
• Extract, transform and load data from proprietary SQL databases as well as other DB technologies;
• Application development as required in technologies best suited to project
• SQL/SSIS/Qlikview/Mpower/EDI
• Be Proactive in learning new technologies as required for the role
• Ensure that support requests are serviced in a timely manner through Service Desk
• Maintain and support the SQL / BI Environment as part of the Dev/BI team
• Engage in cross training across the development/BI team
• Infrequent server support/upgrades outside of production hours as required
• Part of the on-call rotation for out of hours support (Currently 6 week rotation)
  
  

Qualifications

The person:

The successful candidate must be able to work on their own initiative and also work well as part of a team. They must possess strong interpersonal skills to work closely with the rest of the team and the business. They will be able to demonstrate an ability to develop logical solutions in complex business environments and possess the ability to be flexible and quickly adapt to changing business needs and processes. Excellent problem-solving skills will also be required.

Essential Criteria

• Possess a minimum of 2 years’ experience working in an IT / SQL / BI environment;
• A proven track record in development/debugging.
• Possess strong understanding of relational database concepts;
• Familiarity with working with an IT Support ticketing system.
  
  
  

Desirable Criteria

• Previous experience within an FMCG/manufacturing environment;
• Knowledge of the Qlik suite of applications (Qlikview,Qliksense,Qlikcloud,Nprinting)
• Knowledge of BI architecture and processes - from ETL through to Reporting;
• Experience in Multi Server Windows Environment;
• Experience of working with Agile development methodologies;
• Knowledge of Prince2 fundamentals for Project Management;
